Mike Lee

Michael's career in art and design has spanned 30 years and includes experience in design disciplines ranging from architectural and landscape, to theatrical and graphic, with experience in all phases of thematic development from concept to grand opening. He has built a reputation as a responsible creative artist, designer and architect on high-pressure projects worldwide while working effectively with many people in diverse disciplines. He has extensive experience in both the conceptual programmatic planning and the artistic, functional and technical aspects of design for theme parks, museums, aquariums, family entertainment centers, theaters, resorts, leisure and recreation projects.

Michael has been the owner or partner of several highly successful design companies, producing projects and products worth several billion dollars. He has consulted as a creative designer for Children’s Television Workshop, MCA/Universal Studios, Warner Bros. International, Matsushita Investment and Development, Sanyo, Novell and Swire Properties. He has worked on many themed projects, including Warner Bros.’ Movie World (Germany); Port Europa (Wakayama, Japan); Knott’s Berry Farm (Buena Park, California); Ratanga Junction (CapeTown, South Africa); Parque Plaza Sesamo (Monterey, Mexico); Institute for Exploration (Mystic, Connecticut); and Old Tuscon Studios (Tuscon, Arizona).

As director of Design for the Attractions Division of Lucas Arts Entertainment, a subsidiary of LucasFilm Ltd., Michael was responsible for the creative development process, including concept design, layout, master plan, story, learning activities and visual effects for entertainment and education projects around the world.

He holds degrees in science (Brigham Young University) and art (University of California, Los Angeles). Michael is also a licensed architect in California and Utah, and he has professional affiliations with the Themed Entertainment Association, the International Association of Theme Parks and Attractions, and the American Institute of Architects.
