Australian theme park architecture
Australian

is lacking a national identity and its reliance on global
trends is “becoming obsessive”,
a leading architect has said.
The push to develop an Australian
style of architecture has
waned since the Sydney 'nuts and berries' movement and the efforts
of architects such as Peter Corrigan
in Melbourne in the 1970s, John Henry, director of John
Henry Architects ,
said.
“We’re too heavily influenced by overseas
things, to the point where we’re becoming obsessive,” he

just becomes theme park architecture.
To me, much of what is going on does not have any fundamental
philosophical roots in Australia .”

Amusement Park Architecture features Wild rides and wildlife
The days of parks with one big attraction, the thrill of a carousel
and the opportunity to enter the petting zoo have given way to
monumental amusement parks with
myriad ways to entertain. Among those is Six Flags Discovery
Kingdom , a 135-acre park where enjoyment is found in the skies
on the thrill rides, in the sea with the aquatic shows and on
land with the characters and arcade games.
For thrill-seekers, the amusement park architecture offers
Kong, a looping roller coaster where riders' feet dangle with
no floorboard, and Medusa, where a ride of 3,500 feet takes the
brave through twists, loops and seven different chances to be
upside down. To cool off, visitors may jump on Monsoon Falls
and enjoy a 60-foot drop over a waterfall.
For the less adventurous,
the park also offers a number of milder rides, where families
may all travel together, or rides that cater to youngsters.

DisneyAmusement Park Architecture
One
of the most famous architectural devices
that Disney Imagineers use in their construction is forced perspective,
where the scaling of buildings decreases the higher up you go.
Forced perspective creates the illusion that buildings are larger
than they are. In the Magic Kingdom, the buildings along Main
Street as well as Cinderella Castle are built using forced perspective.
Of course, it's no different at Disney's Hollywood Studios. The
facades along Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard incorporate
forced perspective, making the thoroughfares appear grander in
scale.

Holiday World unveils the world's tallest amusement park architecture
and ride
SANTA CLAUS, Ind. — You know you're in for a rush
when the 60-ish grandmother seated next to you in a long, 10-passenger
boat teetering 13 stories above a pool of water cries, "Oh,
my gawwwwd, y'all!"
That was how Sheilah Holbrook reacted
as Pilgrims Plunge, the world's tallest water ride and example
of amusement park architecture of
its kind. It debuted at Holiday World & Splashin' Safari
on Thursday in front of media and invited guests.
Will Koch said
the 165-foot-high tower and 131-foot, 45-degree drop make this
the tallest water ride in the world, also the only one to employ
an open-elevator concept to carry boats to the top for a panoramic
view.

Dorney’s 10
fun facts about Theme Park achitecture
In 1988, Dorney Park announced it was
building the world's largest wooden roller coaster. The record-breaking
coaster to be named "Hercules" would
make good use of the park's sloping topography to create a
157-foot drop sweeping down the hill and over the lake at the
east end of the park.
When the ride opened in 1989, the theme park architecture battle
for the title of world's largest coaster being challenged by the Texas Giant,
a coaster at Flags Over Texas. Although Giant was taller than Hercules, it
had a shorter drop, and Dorney took Six Flags to court over the claim.

Ordos – Amusement Park architects
create incoherence
I think the participating amusement
park architects are not doing the right
thing by individually pursuing their own egotistical goals. Many
of the projects claim to 'respond to site' and yet look at how
it is turning out! A rag tag bunch of individual goals and aspirations
with no overal coherence. At best a failed suburban development.
At worst making us architects look
like a bunch arrogant self-centered d*&kheads.
